Pump Water With
Free Sunlight — All Day

Electricity and diesel costs are among the biggest expenses for farmers and rural businesses in India. A solar water pump eliminates both — converting sunlight directly into pumping power, with no fuel cost, no electricity bill, and no grid dependency.

With the PM-KUSUM scheme offering up to 90% subsidy for eligible farmers, a solar pump that saves ₹60,000 or more annually in diesel can pay for itself in under 2 years — then deliver free water for 20+ more years.

⭐ Most Common for Small Farms
DC Solar Surface Pump

Runs directly on DC power from solar panels — no inverter, no battery, no electricity connection required. Pumps water from open wells, canals, ponds, streams and shallow borewells during daylight hours. Extremely simple, reliable and low-maintenance. Best choice for drip or sprinkler irrigation on small to medium farms.

0.5HP – 5HP Direct DC No Battery Needed PM-KUSUM Eligible
AC Solar Submersible Pump

Solar panels power a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD/MPPT controller) that runs a standard AC submersible pump at varying speeds throughout the day as sunlight changes. Ideal for deep borewells (50–300 ft), higher head lifts and larger water volumes. Can be connected to grid or generator as backup.

1HP – 100HP Deep Borewell VFD Controller Grid Backup Ready
Hybrid Pump with Storage

Combines solar panels with a battery bank or overhead water tank storage — allowing pumping at night or on cloudy days. Solar charges batteries during the day; the pump runs on battery power as needed. Ideal for livestock watering, domestic water supply and critical irrigation where timing flexibility is essential.

Real Benefits for
Every Farmer & Business

Switching from diesel or electric pumps to solar is one of the fastest-payback investments available to Indian farmers today.

₹0
Diesel & Power Cost

Once installed, your solar pump runs on free sunlight — eliminating diesel fuel cost (₹5,000–₹8,000/month for a 5HP diesel pump) and electricity bills entirely.

90%
Govt. Subsidy

PM-KUSUM scheme provides up to 90% subsidy for eligible farmers — making a ₹2 lakh pump available for as little as ₹20,000 out of pocket.

2–3 Yr
Payback Period

Diesel pump replacements typically recover full investment (after subsidy) in 2–3 years through fuel savings alone — after which water is free for 20+ more years.

Grid Free
No Grid Dependency

Solar pumps work independently of the electricity grid — no waiting for power supply schedules, no low-voltage damage, no tripping. Pump when the sun shines.

Low Maint.
Minimal Maintenance

No engine oil, no spark plugs, no diesel filter — solar pumps have no moving parts in the power source. Periodic panel cleaning is all that's needed for years of trouble-free operation.

Zero CO₂
Clean & Green

Replacing a 5HP diesel pump with solar eliminates over 8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year — contributing to a cleaner environment for future generations.

Questions Farmers &
Businesses Ask Us Most

Everything you need to know before going solar for your water pumping needs.

A standard DC or AC solar pump runs only during daylight hours when panels generate power — it does not work at night. On cloudy days, output is reduced but the pump still runs at lower capacity. The practical solution most farmers use is to pump into an overhead storage tank or farm pond during the day and then use gravity-fed water at any time. If you need pumping at night or continuous 24/7 supply, we recommend a hybrid system with battery storage. During the site assessment, our engineer will advise the best approach for your crop type and irrigation schedule.
PM-KUSUM Component B (individual solar pump scheme) is available to any farmer who owns agricultural land and is using a diesel or electric pump for irrigation. The scheme covers solar pumps up to 7.5HP capacity. You need a valid Aadhaar card, land documents (Khatoni / Khasra), bank account and a borewell or water source on or adjacent to your field. State-specific rules may vary. Sangam Power will assess your eligibility during the free consultation and guide you through the exact documentation required for your state.
Yes — solar submersible pump systems are specifically designed for deep borewells. The pump is a standard AC submersible motor that goes down the borewell (just like a conventional electric pump), powered by solar panels through a VFD or solar pump controller on the surface. We routinely install solar pump systems for borewells from 50 feet to 300 feet deep. The key is correctly matching the pump HP, solar panel capacity and controller to the actual water level and required head — which our site survey determines precisely.
A 3HP solar pump operating for 7–8 peak sun hours in India can deliver approximately 80,000 to 1,00,000 litres (80–100 kilolitres) per day from a source at 100–120 feet depth. This is sufficient to irrigate 2–5 acres depending on crop water requirement. For high-water-demand crops like sugarcane, you may need 5HP for the same area. For water-efficient crops under drip irrigation, 3HP can cover more area. Our engineer will calculate actual discharge based on your borewell's yield and depth during the site visit.
Yes — most of our AC solar pump controllers (VFD/MPPT) support dual-source operation. During the day the pump runs on solar power; during nights or cloudy days it can automatically switch to grid power (or a generator) as backup. This is particularly useful for farms where uninterrupted irrigation is critical. The dual-source controller gives priority to solar and only draws grid power when solar is insufficient. We configure and commission this dual-source setup during installation at no additional complexity to the farmer.
Each solar panel requires approximately 20–22 square feet. A 3HP pump needs around 9 panels — roughly 180–200 sq. ft. of shadow-free open ground or rooftop near the borewell. Panels are usually installed on a GI structure in an open area of the farm where there is no shading from trees or buildings. Most farms easily accommodate the panels near the borewell pump house. For farms where space near the borewell is limited, we can design longer cable runs to place panels further away. Our site assessment will confirm the exact placement plan.
